Britomart wins global architecture and design award

01 December 2004

The winner of the Business Week / Architectural Record Awards is the Britomart Transport Center.

Two New Zealand architectural firms, Mario Madayag Architecture and JASMAX Ltd, combined to create a transport center within a refurbished historic building in downtown Auckland.

The Business Week / Architectural Awards scrutinizes design and function. Juror Douglas Gardner, former president of the Urban Development Group at Catellus Development Corp, said the Britomart project was “physically daunting and complex” and that the architectural partners “came up with solutions that achieved a number of important goals.”
