Event transports to ‘other world’ of talent

01 March 2005

The Fourth Annual Celebration of New Zealand Filmmaking was held at the Beverly Hills Hotel on February 25.

Fast becoming a fixture on the Oscar circuit, the event hosted New Zealand’s three 77th Oscar nominees alongside notable New Zealand screen talent, and many Hollywood insiders that are currently, or have recently worked closely with New Zealand.

Event guests and Oscar nominees, Taika Waititi / Ainsley Gardiner (Two Cars, One Night, Best Short Film), Andrew Adamson (Shrek 2, Best animated feature) and Joe Letteri (I Robot, Best visual effects) wandered amongst a “Narnia”-themed space with an entrance that resembled a magical behind-the-scenes videos, animated creatures and miniatures.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe (Walden, Disney) is currently in production in New Zealand helmed by Andrew Adamson.

“The popularity of this event reaffirms New Zealand’s place on the international radar screen through the successes of recent years,” says Investment New Zealand Manager Paul Voigt. “We’re building on this, and new investment in screen infrastructure at home is enhancing our production capability."
