About Chris

Chris helps to introduce offshore investors and strategic partners to New Zealand companies that are developing clean technologies or projects as well as attract Greenfield cleantech ventures to New Zealand. Chris is based in Auckland.

Background and expertise

Chris has over 20 years experience in engineering, project management and commercial/ marketing roles within industry as well as experience in technology commercialisation.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical and materials) from Auckland University, Chris worked in the water, process, and environmental sectors in New Zealand, Australia, UK and Middle East. After this he spent six years working on process design for major North Sea oil and gas projects with UK Contractor Brown and Root.

Upon returning to New Zealand, Chris worked for APS Chemicals (now part of Nuplex] in sales and marketing. In that role he was responsible for the successful launch of the lead replacement addictive Valvemaster when New Zealand transitioned to unleaded petrol.

Chris left APS to establish an early stage technology commercialisation business and manage a technology start-up company. He undertook a consultancy contract with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise's Investment team in December 2007 to scope out cleantech activity and capability within New Zealand. Chris joined New Zealand Trade and Enterprise's Investment team full-time in January 2009.
