About Martin

Martin is actively involved in technology infrastructure projects, and is leading the assessment and project work around the wider role the infrastructure sector plays in economic growth. Martin is based in Auckland.

Background and expertise

After an initial role with British Telecom, Martin worked in IT as a software engineer specialising in operating system software and optical character recognition systems for the banking sector. During this time he was seconded to work with a technology supplier in the US.

Martin emigrated to New Zealand from the UK in 1987 and moved into client-facing roles in sales, marketing and management with leading technology organisations such as ICL, Fujitsu, the Gartner Group, and Telecom New Zealand. In these roles he worked with a number of New Zealand market sectors including health, finance and banking, local government and manufacturing and distribution.

With a business partner Martin also started up and ran a technology-related service business in New Zealand.

Martin has tertiary qualifications in telecommunications and an MBA from Edinburgh Business School. Martin joined New Zealand Trade and Enterprise's Investment team in August 2006.
